5 killed, 20 injured in Kashmore train blast; BRA claims responsibility
KASHMORE: At least five people were killed and over 20 injured when a blast hit a railway track near Thal, derailing four bogies of Khushal Khan Express ARY News reported on Sunday.
Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed responsiblity of the attack.
Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique confirmed that five people had lost their lives and more than 20 others sustained injuries.
DS Railways said around 350 passengers were aboard the Khushal Khan Express when it was hit by a blast.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has also sought report from commissioner and DIG Sukkur.
SSP Jacobabad Younus Chandio said 27 injured had been shifted to Thal Hospital. He said two bogies were completely destroyed by the blast while one was partially affected. The eight deceased include four persons belonging to the same family. Police confirmed that at least four bogies derailed as a bomb exploded on a track.
A relief train containing rescue officials and doctors from Karachi has been despatched to the incident site.
It took more than an hour for rescue officials to reach the spot. Intially local people helped the injured in shifting them to the hospital. Sources told that only one ambulance was operational in the district, thus affecting the rescue activities.
The train, Khushal Khan Express, was heading to Peshawar from Karachi when a bomb planted beneath a railway track exploded.
Track has completely been destroyed.
