Five killed as van plunges in ravine; 38 injured in other mishaps

LOWER DIR: A passenger van plunged into ravine in Lower Dir area, killing at least five people, ARY News reported Sunday.

Police said the incident occurred due to speeding, when a van’s driver tried to negotiate a sharp curve and lost control.

Rescue teams and police reached the spot shortly after the incident and helped shifting the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, at least eight people were injured when a car overturned near Ghaggar Phattak area. The injured were shifted to a hospital by rescue officials.

Similarly, a passenger van turned turtle near Hub, Balochistan, thus injuring at least 30 people. They were shifted to nearby hospital for treatement.

Hospital sources said the condition of some of the injured persons was critical.
