Five soldiers, 15 terrorists killed in Mohmand cross border attack

MOHMAND: Five Pakistani soldiers and 15 terrorists were killed during a cross border attack on three Pakistani check posts on Afghan border last night, ARY News reported.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a statement on Monday said that the terrorists attacked three border posts of Pakistan in Mohmand tribal region on Pak-Afghan border. The soldiers of Pakistan Army promptly responded with full force and foiled the terrorist attack, the ISPR said.

The soldiers foiled the terrorists to enter in Pakistani territory. In the attack five Pakistani soldiers Naik Sanaullah, Naik Safdar, Altaf, Anwar and Naik Mohammad were martyred, the ISPR statement said.

Pakistani soldiers in retaliatory firing killed 15 terrorists, and injured over 20.

There are credible reports that six operational level terrorists, Kuchay Bajuari, Zar Mohammad alias Madni, Huzaifa, Sangary, Lakhkari and Sangeen, were killed overnight, said ISPR.

Director General ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said Pakistan Army shall not spare any terrorist.

Army Chief pays tribute to martyred soldiers

Pakistan’s Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has paid tribute to soldiers for sacrificing their lives to foil a terrorist attack in Mohmand Agency.

ISPR spokesman in a statement said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa has extended sympathies to the families of the martyred soldiers.

Gen. Bajwa also called upon Afghan authorities to devise an effective mechanism of border management on their side to ensure stopping free cross border movement of the terrorists.

Pakistan’s Army Chief said, ” We have common enemy, which needs joint fight against them and to stop their free movement on the border.”

Namaz-e-Janaza offered

Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) of the soldiers who embraced martyrdom, while valiantly repulsing terrorist attack from across the border in Mohmand Agency, was offered today at Peshawar garrison.

Governor and chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Corps Commander Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt and other senior serving civil and military officers and soldiers attended the funeral prayer. Bodies of the martyrs will be taken to their native areas where they would be buried with full military honour.
