ISLAMABAD: At least 3.41 million Pakistani labors moved to foreign countries for employment purpose during the last five years, data shared by Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment revealed.

As per the data, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) remained the first choice of Pakistani workers as more than two million people moved there for various job opportunities.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) stood as the second most attractive place with 1.4 million while Oman was the third largest country where about 0.2 million Pakistani labors migrated in last five years.

In 2015, the emigration of Pakistani labor abroad was on peaks when the country exported some 0.95 million of its workforce to foreign countries, the report highlighted.

Since then the emigration trend witnessed a sharp decline due to some economic reforms in the Middle Eastern countries due to which huge number of manpower returned back home, the report added.

In January, Consul General of Qatar in Karachi Mishal M. Al Ansari had said that his country will recruit 100,000 Pakistan citizens by issuing work visa in all sectors.

Last year in December, Qatari ambassador Mr. Saqr bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri announced that Qatar will give jobs to 0.1 million Pakistanis. Meanwhile, he committed to offer support for the education sector in Pakistan.
