Dense fog envelops Punjab, disrupts traffic on motorway

LAHORE: Heavy fog engulfed various parts of Punjab province on Sunday, disrupting routine life and traffic on the motorway.  

According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, the Motorway has been closed for all kinds of traffic from Pindi Bhattian to Lahore, Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Faisalabad to Gojra due to low visibility caused by dense fog.

The weather department said dense fog is likely to persist over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours during the next 24 hours.

It said mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. Very cold weather conditions are likely to prevail in northern areas, Malakand and Quetta divisions.

Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Quetta divisions, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan.

During the past 24 hours, the minimum temperature was recorded -08°C in Skardu, followed by -07°C in Kalam. Quetta and Astore experienced -06°C, Gupis -05°C, Gilgit, Chitral, Rawalakot -04°C and Malamjabba, Dir -03°C.
