Foreign exchange reserves witnessed massive increase of $68mn

KARACHI: Following the reduction in the past few weeks, the foreign exchange reserves of the country have witnessed a massive increase of $68 million during the last week, ARY News reported.

According to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) the total liquid foreign reserves of the country have increased to dollars $8.65 billion with receipts from multilateral and bilateral sources.     

The foreign reserves held by central bank was $3.87 billion on the week ended on February 21 and the net foreign reserves held by private banks was 4.78 billion, as per  SBP's weekly statement.       

SBP termed the increase as the results of payment received from international and national institutes while the total official payment during the week was $ 172 million.
