Former CJP Ajmal Mian passes away aged 83 in Karachi

KARACHI: Former Chief Justice Ajmal Mian passed away after a protracted illness at age of 83 here on Monday, the family sources informed the media.

Retired justice Mian’s funeral prayers will be held in Mustafa Mosque in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) after Asr (afternoon) prayers.

The deceased will be buried in the Mewa Shah graveyard.

Incumbent Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar and members of legal fraternity across the country have expressed their condolences with the bereaved family of former chief justice Mian.

Justice Ajmal Mian served as the chief justice of the Supreme Court from December 23, 1997 to June 30, 1999. Moreover, he was also appointed as the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.
