NA-246: Four arrested for issuing threats, casting fake vote

According to details, paramilitary personnel arrested three people from a polling station set up inside KDA School, in Block 14 of FB Area.

Sources told that the suspects issued threats to Assistant Polling Agent Zahid Jadoon inside a polling station, following which they were apprehended by Rangers personnel on duty.

On the other hand, MQM candidate Kunwar Naveed Jamil has said that the arrested men were only chanting slogans and were arrested for this.

Meanwhile, Rangers arrested another man from Sharifabad area while casting a bogus vote.

Security personnel when inquired a suspected man and checked out his particulars, it was then revealed that the man named Abdul Bari was a resident of Surjani Town area and had nothing to do with polling process in the constituency.

However, the suspect in being investigated as to for which party he was casting fake vote and how many votes had he already polled.

With the recent episode, six people have faced arrest so far including a presiding officer.

A spokesperson with Rangers had earlier confirmed arrest of two persons involved in vote rigging at a polling station in Karimabad. One was identified as Syed Majeed Ali (presiding officer) and another as Rehan Ahmed.

Majeed was sentenced to three months imprisonment, while Ahmed to six months along with Rs 5,000 fine.
