Four cops killed in Gracy Line blast

RAWALPINDI: Four police officials were killed and seventeen others were killed in a suicide attack near an imambargah at Gracy Line on Tuesday, ARY News reports.

The suicide attacker, riding a motorcycle, blew himself near the imambargah when the police officials tried to stop him at a checking point.

After the explosion, complete destruction was witnessed all around the area. The explosion was so loud that it was heard by the people residing in the far flung areas of the city.

Several vehicles and shops were also damaged by the blast.

Four police officials were killed in the incident including the SHO of Airport Police Station whereas five officers were injured along with more than dozen civilians.

The rescue officials arrived at the scene and started their operations. The injured were shifted to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital for treatment. The injured are reported to be in a stable condition.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Akhtar Laleka said that five to ten kilograms of explosives along with ball bearings were used to carry out the attack. He added that the head and the body parts of the suicide attacker has been recovered.
