Police told that four criminals, wanted in 40 different cases including murder, were standing at the Khairu Bypass with an intention to kidnap someone.
The alleged criminals opened fire as soon as they sighted police; however all of them were gunned down as a result of counter-fire by the police.
Officials also recovered arms from slain criminals.
On the other hand, the heirs of deceased staged a sit-in against police and claimed that all the four alleged dacoits were arrested by the police a few days ago.
They accused the police of killing the criminals in fake encounter.
