Four foreigners among 9 killed in Kabul hotel attack
KABUL: Nine civilians, including four foreigners, were killed in Thursday's attack on a luxury hotel in central Kabul, Afghan police and government security officials said on Friday.
Ayoub Salangi, the deputy minister for security, had earlier said eight civilians were killed.
Afghan officials say the Taliban fighters sneaked pistols in their socks through at least three security checks at the Serena hotel that involve metal detectors, X-ray machines and frisking.
The CCTV footage from the hotel has revealed that the attackers – all killed by Afghan security forces – hid in a washroom for three hours before emerging and firing with small-arms.
