Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a patrolling van of police in capital city of Balochistan in Pashtoonabad area.
According to police sources the policemen were on routine patrol when militants attacked their van.
The policemen succumbed to their injuries while on their way to hospital.
The dead bodies of the four policemen transferred to Civil Hospital Quetta for autopsy.
The assailants escaped from the scene after carrying out the attack.
Police and Frontier Corps have launched a search operation in the area after the attack.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a statement expressed grief over the killing of four policemen in terrorist attack and said that these cowardly attacks coulld not weaken our resolve against terrorism.
