Four more polio cases take number to 74
ISLAMABAD: Four more polio cases were detected in the country, taking the total number of cases to 74 this year, ARY News reported Friday.
The new cases were reported from Waziristan areas. A 3-year-old Madina and Haleema, affected with polio, belonged to Bannu. Besides polio virus was also detected in 22-month-old Laiba and 23-month-old Ilyas, who are the residents of North Waziristan.
Anti-polio campaigns are halted in these areas where militants defy such drives as anti-Islamic.
Besides, Sindh government, on recommendation of International Monitoring Board, provincial emergency operation centre.
Sindh government took the decision in a meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. The CM ordered expediting the anti-polio drive across the province.
