MELBOURNE: Australia defeated England by 8 wickets in the fourth Ashes test match here at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, ARY News reports.
England had set Australia a target of 231 runs to win.
Australia started the fourth day at 30/0. The hosts lost opener David Warner with 64 runs on the scoreboard. He made 25 runs.
Chris Rogers and Shane Watson contributed a vital partnership of 136 runs. Rogers played sensational shots in the innings and scored 116 runs for the team before being dismissed.
After the dismissal of Rogers, Watson guided the side home after scoring an unbeaten knock of 83 runs.
Mitchell Johnson was named as the Man of the Match. Australia lead the five match series 4-0.
