French Open 2014: Nadal, Djokovic, Sharapova through

PARIS: Defending champion Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova made power starts to their French Open 2014 campaigns after winning their French Open matches with ease, ARY News reports.

Rafael Nadal continued his domination at the clay court grand slam as he trounced United States' Robert Ginepri 6-0 6-3 6-0 to make it through to the second round.

Serbia's Novak Djokovic defeated Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-1 6-2 and 6-4 to qualify for the next round.

Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland faced a shock first round exit from the hands of Guillermo García-López of Spain as he lost the match 4-6 7-5 2-6 0-6.

In the Women's Singles, Maria Sharapova of Russia qualified for the second round of the grand slam after thrashing compatriot Ksenia Pervak 6-1 6-2.
