PARIS: World No.1 Rafael Nadal, Gael Monfils and Ana Ivanovic cruised into the third round of the French Open in Paris, ARY News reports on Friday.
Defending champion and World No.1 Rafael Nadal defeated Austria’ Dominic Thiem in straight sets. He won the match 6-2 6-2 and 6-3 to qualify for the third round of the grand slam.
Gael Monfils of France beat Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany 7-6 6-4 and 6-1. The Frenchman faced some resistance in the first set but won the match easily in the next two sets.
In women’s singles, Serbian Ana Ivanovic defeated Elena Svitolina of Ukraine 7-5 6-2 to qualify for the third round of the tournament.
