ISLAMABAD: Secretary Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Akbar Durrani on Tuesday said funds would be issued to the sports federation which will present four year audit report, ARY News reported.

Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on IPC meeting, Akbar Durrani said situation of sports in the country was not better.

He rued over performance of Pakistan’s hockey team at international level saying that the national hockey team ranked 12th in the world and its performance was not up to the mark in world cup as well.

The secretary ministry of IPC said federations avoided auditing. Recommending the task force to halt grants for the federations, he wondered that how the government could issue funds for the federations, when they did not get their audits done.

MNA Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan said the task force had nothing to do with the standing committee.

He said the task force could not seek audit reports from sports federations. He said only the standing committee had the right to do so.

Iqbal Ali Khan said those federations should be issued funds, which were showing performance. He said officials of hockey federation should be convened in the next meeting.
