Gas shortfall to hit 70%, claims MD SNGPL

ISLAMABAD: Arif Hameed, Managing Director (MD) of Sui Norther Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL),  said on Tuesday that the shortfall of gas will hit at 70%, ARY News reports.

Senator Talh Mehmood chaired the meeting of Standing Senate Committe for Interior. In the meeting, MD of SNGPL briefed the meeting that a severe gas shortage would be felt across the country fro Decemberm. He added that efforts are being provide gas to the consumer as much as possible.

He further said that 11 per cent of the gas is being wasted and stolen.

Senator Talha Mehmood stated that the disclosures made by MD of SNGPL were frightening.

Earlier, Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had disclosed that 613 cases of power theft were reported across the country in which 611 pilferers were apprehended. He added that officials of gas and power department were included amongst the arrested person.
