General Raheel holds talks with CIA Director Brennan

The two officials discussed prevailing situation and security challenges in the region, ISPR Director General Lt. Gen. Asim Bajwa said in a statement.

General Raheel Sharif urged for a conducive atmosphere for Afghan peace talks. He said Pakistan is making sincere efforts to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan, as it is in the interest of the entire region.

CIA chief Brennan acknowledged Pakistan Army’s achievements against terrorists in the anti-terrorism drive codenamed Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Earlier, the Army Chief had meetings with senior US officials including Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford and Army Chief of Staff Mark A Milley.

The two sides held wide ranging talks focusing on bilateral defence cooperation and regional issues.
