General Raheel Sharif meets PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif held a one on one meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here in Islamabad on Wednesday in which the two officials decided to avoid a complete military operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ARY News reports.

The Premier and the Army Chief discussed the overall security situation of the country including Waziristan.

Following Raheel-Nawaz meeting, Defence Minister Khwaja Muhammad Asif,  Director General (DG) Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) General Zaheer-ul-Islam and DG Military Operation (DGMO) were also met with the two officials.  

It should be noted that the federal government had decided to limit the operation till surgical strikes.

Sources reported that the weak strategic situation of the region is a barrier in the path of military offensive in the territory. It was further reported that there is no replaceable system after the evacuation of security forces if a military operation is carried out.

Shahbaz Sharif meets Fazl-ur-Rehman:  

Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting with Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl-ur-Rehman (JUI-F) and discussed the military operation against terrorists in Waziristan and the dialogue process with Taliban militants.

Shahbaz Sharif and Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman talked about the concerns of JUI-F and government reaction of carrying out an operation in the hostile region.
