KARACHI: The generator imports in the country has increased by 6.3 per cent during first seven month of current fiscal year, ARY News reported.
According to Pakistan Machinery Importers Group , generator imports rose to $199.4 million in January 2014 from $116m in December 2013. The figure was just $95 million in January 2013.
Furthermore, the generator imports of $643.5 million was recorded during July 2013- January 2014 as compare to import of $605 million for last fiscal year.
The government have been taking many measures about increasing power generation this year, but the rising generator imports suggest that people are bracing themselves to deal with load-shedding in the summer.
It is pertinent to mention that, among total imports of grnerator, 1-10 KVA generators hold 40 per cent share, which is commonly used by domestic and small trading institutes.
