LAHORE: Former president of the Supreme Court (SC) Bar, Asma Jahangir has said that forming and toppling the governments is not the responsibility of Geo-Jang Group, yet it has been playing this role in the past – ARY News reports.
Addressing the Women Journalists Convention organized by the Council of Press Clubs of Pakistan, Asma Jahangir said that if Hamid Mir had expressed his fears about a possible assault on him, then the Geo-Jang Group should have consulted the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif on the issue, but it did not do so.
She expressed solidarity with all those journalists, who came under attack on different occasions.
Asma stressed the women journalists to generate a place in the society, through their creative work and urged for the need of acting upon rules and regulations against the harassment of women at offices.
On this occasion, Mrs. Bushra Aitzaz said that journalists are playing an important role in the society and urged the Government to take adequate measures for the security of journalist fraternity and media houses.
