MUZAFFARABAD: The transmission of Geo News has been closed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on the instruction of Prime Minister of the region Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Friday, ARY News reports.
The instructions were given after Geo had shown blasphemous content in its morning show "Utho Jago Pakistan" hosted by anchor Shaista Lodhi. Cable operators of AJK have also shut the transmission down in the region.
On the other hand, Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) had announced protest against Geo and Jang Group in AJK after the Friday prayers today. Allama Syed Tassawur Hussain Jawwadi, General Secretary of MWM, had said that the media group has hurt the sentiments of Muslims by showing blasphemous content in its morning show.
Jawwadi also urged that a case of blasphemy should be filed against the news channel. He also urged the Muslim Ummah to boycott Geo and Jang group.
