KARACHI: Police on Thursday registered a case against a woman for her alleged ‘negligence’ that resulted in her daughter’s death in Karachi’s Khadda Market locality of Layari, ARY News reported.

According to details, Sawera, 6, had fallen from her apartment on the 6th floor. She died on the spot.

As per police, initial investigations have revealed that the woman had gone to see her neighbours after tying the hands of the girl.

The First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Kalri Police 90/2019 reads that when the girl went to see her mother through the window, she lost her balance and fell down, and couldn’t use her hands to break her fall as they were tied.

The police have nominated the girl’s mother in the case for becoming a reason for her daughter’s death.

According to the deceased girl’s uncle, the mother had tied her hands as a ‘punishment’ as Sawera refused to go to her Madressa (religious seminary) and school.

He further added that the girl was afraid of corporal punishment at the Madressa and hence didn’t want to attend the classes there.

The police are further investigating the matter and are expected to soon present the woman before the court.
