BHURBAN: President Mamnoon Hussain has said on Sunday Pakistan wants peace in the region which is mandatory for the development and prosperity of the people, ARY News reported.
Addressing South Asia Free Media Association's sixth National Conference in Bhurban on Sunday‚ Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan has paid immeasurable sacrifices in fight against terrorism and extremism and despite all this, Pakistani nation has shown great strength of mind.
He vowed that government will take it war against terrorism to its logical conclusion in line with aspirations of the people.
The President said the government believes in freedom of expression and speech, as no society can make progress without free media and access to information.
He urged media to sense its responsibility to play its role in guiding people towards right direction and guarding national interests.
Mamnoon Hussain said in order to ensure transparency and accountability independent functioning and responsible media is essential.
