Government prepares to get Pakistan’s name excluded from FATF grey list

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government has made widespread preparation to get off Pakistan’s name from Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list.

According to sources, Dr Shamshad Akhtar the finance minister provided detailed information to the National Security Committee (NSC) on Friday related to the plan for getting Pakistan’s name excluded from FATF grey list. In order to save Pakistan from being into grey list, Pakistan has to execute the proposed 26 points by FATF in regards to illicit money making, terrorism and its financing

Recently, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken in detention a well known banker in the case of illicit money making of billions of rupees. It is a significant step towards the improvisation of associations with FATF, which shows proceedings are done at extreme level for such activities.

Furthermore, Pakistan is yet to present a detailed report related to to law enforcement agencies (LEAs’), in order to recognize and examine money laundering and main center of attention will be terrorism financers consist of cash smuggling, uses of natural resources illicitly, also providing financial support to the chief terrorist assemblage that is Da’esh, AQ, JuD, HQN and many others associated with Taliban.

Pakistani delegation will also confirm FATF, that government will take progressive steps in order to close the commencement of those working on their behalf maximum by May 2019.
