LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah categorically said today that the government was standing by Geo and its entire episode must now end, ARY News reported.
The law minister said government wanted to end the Geo case, adding the issue must now be written off.
He also lashed out at members of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra).
The current laws of Pemra have no capacity to rein in TV channels, said Sanaullah.
Recently, Information Minister Pervez Rasheed had met Geo/Jang group owner Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman and assured him of government support.
It was also decided in their meeting that Sanaullah would have the responsibility to restore Geo’s public image in Punjab.
