Govt appoints new chief operating officer of PIA

ISLAMABAD: The government could not find a single man in the country who could take Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) out of the financial crisis and appointed a German citizen Hayden Berg as the chief operating officer of the national flag carrier on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

On one hand, the government bemoans PIA’s financial deficit while on the other it is taking measures beyond comprehension. Instead of reconciling protesting employees, it appointed a foreigner as the COO at Rs 2.5 million monthly salary.

The government tasked Hayden Berg to transform PIA into a profitable entity. A spokesperson for the national airliner, Danial Gillani confirmed the appointment of Berg.

He said that the PIA administration must have found the appointment worthwhile.
