Pillion riding banned for 14 days in Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Thursday imposed a ban on pillion riding across the province ahead of Eid Miladun Nabi (12th Rabiul Awwal).

According to a notification issued by the provincial home department, the ban has been imposed on the use of loud speakers, pillion ridding, carrying/processing or playing of provocative audio/video cassettes/material provocative speeches and inciting sectarian hatred, and assembly of five or more persons except Chup Tazia Juloos and Rallies/gathering to be held in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi.

The ban, which has been imposed under Section 144 of CrPC, will remain in effect until 20th Rabiul Awwal 1440 AH.

“The Government of Sindh, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 (6) Cr.P.C do hereby impose on above mentioned acts/points as well as protest rallies/Jalsa/Jaloos and public gathering or otherwise causing disturbances of law & order situation ban on carrying/display of weapons provided that the aforesaid ban shall not be applicable on the journalists, police personnel, personnel of law enforcement agencies/security agencies/Security Guard of the registered Private Security Companies during their duty hours and employees of essential services w.e. 01st to 20th Rabiul Awwal 1440 A.H throughout province of Sindh,” the notification read.
