ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to hold direct talks with Taliban after the announcement of ceasefire by the militants, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the proposals presented by Major (retd) Amir and decided to hold direct talks with Taliban. 

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali will be the Focal Person for the dialogue. 

According to sources, in the reconstituted talks committee of the government, the Chief Minister and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or representatives of the provincial government will be included. According to sources, a senior officer of ISI will represent the military in the talks. 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a meeting with the lawmakers from Gujranwala division has said his government has adopted the path of dialogue with Taliban to resolve the problem of terrorism in the country. 

He said the government following the decision of the All Parties Conference about talks with Taliban and hoping positive results of talks.
