Govt decides to remove PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf

TOP NEWS

LAHORE: The government has decided in principle to remove Choudhary Zaka Ashraf as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, ARY News reported on Friday.

According to sources, government has completed all legal formalities to remove Mr. Ashraf from his post.  The decision in this regard will likely be announced earlier next week.

The PCB chief is currently in Singapore to attend the ICC meeting.

The Islamabad High Court, on July 19, 2013, had declared appointment of Mr. Ashraf illegal and directed the then PCB chief Najam Sethi to hold elections within 90 days. However, on January 15, 2014 Mr. Ashraf was restored on his position by the IHC after he had filed an intra-court appeal, challenging his sacking.
