Govt decides strong offensive against militants

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif has chaired a high-level meeting to review the national security situation of the state. The meeting decided to utilize all resources for maintaining law and order in the country, while it also paid a tribute to the martyrs of Karachi airport attack – ARY News reports.

According to details, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided the national security meeting here on Tuesday, which was attended by the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Information Minister Pervez Rasheed, Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI Lieutenant General Zaheer ul Islam and other higher civil-military officials.

Officials briefed the meeting about the current security scenario of the state. The meeting also paid a tribute to the martyrs of Karachi airport attack, who laid their lives while securing the national assets.

It was also said that the so called ceasefire announced by Taliban, was aimed at reorganizing themselves.

The meeting decided for a comprehensive operation against militants, for the talks could not bear any fruit.

Sources told that the security situation of Karachi after the terrorist attack on Jinnah International Airport and that of Balochistan was also discussed by the civil-military leadership.
