Govt to ensure all possible facilitation for Pakistani diaspora: FM Qureshi

TOKYO: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi here on Sunday said that the government was trying to ensure all possible facilitation for the overseas Pakistanis.

Addressing Pakistani community members in Tokyo, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, “Necessary instructions have been issued to all Pakistani missions abroad to facilitate and assist the community to address their genuine concerns in an effective manner.”

He said that the new political set up in Pakistan under the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was people-centric and its socio-economic agenda aimed at bringing job opportunities and economic benefits to the people.

The foreign minister also underscored the important role of Pakistani diaspora in promoting positive image of the country abroad and added that the government was committed to enhance productivity in the country to give a new impetus to economic development.

He further said, “It is need of the hour for Pakistan to be economically and financially stable.”

Earlier in the day, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi  reiterated that Pakistan desired peaceful relations with all the neighboring countries for peace and stability in the region.

“Peaceful relations with neighbours is prime object of the Pakistan’s foreign policy”, Qureshi said in an interaction with the intellectuals and businessmen associated with Japan Institute of International Affairs in Tokyo.

The FM said the present government wanted to transform Pakistan into an industrial and trade center. Qureshi underlined the need to establish new trade centers in the region to strengthen economic and trade relations.
