ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to table the national security policy for debate in the parliament as the draft was distributed in National Assembly, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The 94-page draft of the national security policy of the country was distributed among the lawmakers as the lower house session begins today.

The government yesterday unveiled the national security policy in the lower house of the parliament, urging the political leadership to come on the same page in order to eradicate terrorism.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali briefed the lower house of parliament on the salient features of the much-awaited policy.

Leader of the opposition in National Assembly People's Party's Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah complained that the government not consulted with the opposition over the crucial issue of the country's policy on national security.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif promised to consult with the opposition adding that the national security policy belongs to the country and not only with the government or the ruling party.
