Govt, Taliban talks can be held in Makeen: Prof Ibrahim

PESHAWAR: Talilban intermediary Professor Muhammad Ibrahim on Wednesday said that Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has proposed to make Ladha and Makeen as Free Peace Zone for possible venues for talks. 

In an exclusive chat with ARY News today Ibrahim said that face to face talks between the government and Taliban could be held at these places after pullout of trops from these areas. 

Prof Ibrahim said that the government had proposed the office of the Political Agent in North Waziristan as the venue for talks but said that the agreement between the military and Hafiz Gul Muhammad could not be violated. 

Taliban team member further called the decisions made in the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister as positive and called the situation as encouraging. 

He said government considering over the proposals of Taliban adding that restoration of confidence will lead to success of dialogue. 

He said, he don't favor operation in any situation. He said the release of imprisoned women and children from detention centres will build confidence for the dialogue.
