DIG traffic directed the traffic police to ensure strict implementation of orders to ban heavy traffic from 7am to 11pm.

The traffic police say the ban had been imposed for the convenience of the citizens and make the artery traffic congestion-free.

Earlier, DIG Traffic Karachi had suspended last week the ban on rickshaws for a month to travel on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

DIG Traffic Ameer Shaikh had announced that rickshaws and heavy vehicles will not be allowed on Sharah-e-Faisal as it affects the flow of traffic on the road, which is the main traffic artery that connects the city with the airport.

Shaikh said that the ban has been suspended on complaints from the general public. He said that the traffic police will devise the future strategy after carrying out a survey.
