Gujranwala youth ‘fakes’ own kidnapping to ‘go abroad’

GUJRANWALA: Police in Gujranwala city of Punjab province arrested a youth for faking own kidnapping in order to collect ransom from his parents, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to police, the youth named Huzaifa was reported missing last week after which his parents began receiving calls from someone claiming to be holding him captive.

His parents contacted police which traced the location of the caller and raided the place only to find the “kidnapped youth” and no kidnappers.

The accused told the police that he faked his kidnapping for he needed some money to fulfill his dream of going abroad.

About the telephone calls for ransom, he said that he himself did those calls by changing voice.
