QUETTA: Three labourers were shot dead and another received gunshot injuries when suspected militants attacked a labour camp in the restive province of Balochistan’s Harnai district on Tuesday evening, security officials said.

According to the officials, the victims were repairing the Sibi-Harnai railway track in Naks area of Harnai district when they were attacked by the unidentified armed men.

As result of intense firing, three labourers died on the spot while another received gunshot injuries. The injured daily-wager was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Harnai for medical treatment.

The victims, working on daily wages, were said to be residents of Zhob, another district of Balochistan. However, the identity of deceased and injured could not be established.

Soon after the incident, the miscreants fled the spot. Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel roped off the crime scene to collect evidence.

An investigation into the matter has been underway, officials said. No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

It merits mentioning here that the incident comes weeks after the cold-blooded murder of 15 illegal border crossers in Kech district of the restive province.
