Gwadar Economic Corridor: High-level talks to be held in Beijing

KARACHI: A high level talks to discuss Gwadar Port Project worth $12 billion will be held in Beijing, China, ARY News Reported.

A meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor will be convened on 18 February. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Mr. Ahsan Iqbal will lead delegation to attend the meeting.                 

The JCC will finalize and decide on the implementation of mutually agreed projects of the Economic Corridor.                                      

The Gwadar Port Project includes construction of road from Kashgar to Gwadar, track for Railway Line and lying of fiber optic cables.                                           

Furthermore talks regarding oil and gas productions will also be reviewed. China will also establish Oil Refinery at Gwadar although United States has expressed serious concerns over giving Gwadar port into the hands of China.                      

Besides, President Mamnoon Hussain also visiting China on Tuesday February 18 to further promote bilateral relations and trade ties between the two countries. During the three-day visit to China will hold summit- level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He also expected to held meeting with Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhang Dejiang.
