Hafeez's unofficial test shows positive signs

TOP NEWS

Sources quoted that Hafeez bowled 11 deliveries during the test conducted at Sri Ramachandra University, out of these the flex in six deliveries was above the 15-degree limit.

The average flex in the deliveries bowled by Hafeez over the wicket was 16 degrees. Of the five deliveries bowled round the wicket by him, two had 17 and 19 degrees of flex respectively.

The 34-year-old had his action reported during the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi last month.

He was suspended from all international cricket after a bio-mechanical test in England, which found his elbow flex was more than the permissible 15 degrees.

After the ODI series against New Zealand in the UAE, where he played as a specialist batsman, Hafeez traveled to Chennai to undergo remedial work on his action.

The unofficial bowling action test of Hafeez was conducted under the presence of ICC officials on December 31. The final test of Pakistan all-rounder is likely to be taken on January 6.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included Hafeez in the preliminary 30-man squad in hopes that he would get clearance in time.

ICC has set January 7 as the deadline for submitting a final World Cup squad scheduled to be held in February and March in Australia and New Zealand.
