Hamza Ali Abbasi to direct telefilm on APS tragedy
In an interview recently, Hamza Ali Abbasi stated that he would very soon direct a telefilm which would be based on the Army Public School massacre.
Several gunmen stormed the Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16,2014 and opened indiscriminate fire on teachers as well as students of the school. More than 140 children and some teachers died as a result of the brutality that occurred.
The incident sparked national mourning and outrage, due to the colossal losses and number of tragic deaths. Hamza Ali Abbasi, famous for his controversial statements, revealed that he would be working with ISPR for the telefilm.
“I want to make this movie so that people become aware of what is actually taking place in the country,” said Hamza. “Normally people do not know, even till this day, as to what happened. They’re still baffled as to how many children were killed.”
According to the Pyarey Afzal actor, the movie will focus on incidents before the tragic attack on the military-run school.
“The massacre itself will be highlighted in the last ten minutes of the telefilm, right at the very end. The main elements will focus on what led to this attack, what the TTP actually is and all the events that caused this horrendous incident.”
Hamza Ali Abbasi also revealed that the script had been sent to the ISPR.
“I am working with the ISPR since Pakistan Army will also be highlighted in the movie. Since ISPR is the media wing of the army, obviously I have to work with them to make this telefilm.”
Hamza Ali Abbasi also stated during the interview that he had received a Bollywood offer from Sajid Nadiadwala and that he wasn’t opposed to doing Bollywood films.
“I believe one should do a Bollywood flick, provided that the role being offered is crucial and important to an actor. There’s no problem in acting in an Indian film.”
Hamza Ali Abbasi will be seen in Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, an ARY Films’ project alongside Humayun Saeed, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Butt, Mehwish Hayat and Ayesha Khan in leading roles.
