LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Saturday summoned former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son. Hamza Shehbaz, for allegedly extending threats to Ayesha Ahad, who claims to be his wife.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing a petition instituted by Ms. Ahad seeking registration of a case against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, and others for allegedly subjecting her to torture.

The woman petitioner informed the bench that she feared for her and daughter’s life as Hamza has been making threats against them.

CJP asked the Advocate General Punjab to contact the Punjab chief minister to ensure his son’s presence in court later today. The AG Punjab informed that Hamza has gone abroad and will take three to four days to get back home.

The bench, meanwhile, directed Inspector-General Punjab to provide protection to Ayesha Ahad and summoned record of cases filed against her on June 6.

The top judge expressed displeasure over non-compliance of subordinate court’s directives for registration of case on complaint of the petitioner against the PML-N and others for allegedly torturing her.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till June 29.

Ms Ahad, who claims to be the disowned wife of leader Hamza Shahbaz, has been claiming that Hamza married her back in 2010.
