RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army on Wednesday commented on the recent statement of former Ambassador to United States Hussain Haqqani.

Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj. General Asif Ghafoor on social media website Twitter said that recent views of Haqqani in a mainstream US newspaper vindicate their stance of state institutions in Pakistan.

The military’s media wing further added in a tweet that the  veracity of Haqqani’s role in issuance of visas is confirmed.

Haqqani had stated that he issued visas to several foreign agents while serving as US Ambassador at the behest of the civilian government, which eventually led to the Abbottabad operations in 2012.
