HK beats Hosts by 2 wickets; Bangladesh advances on net run-rate

CHITTAGONG: Hong Kong defeated Bangladesh after a thriller by 2 wickets on Thursday in the Group A qualifier of World T20 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong, ARY News reported.

Despite defeat Bangladesh managed to edge past Nepal on net run-rate for a place in the Super 10s of World T20.

Host displayed substandard performance after being put in to bat first by Hong Kong.

Shakib Al Hassan was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 34 runs.

Anamul Haque (26) and Mushfiqur Rehman(23) allowed Bangladesh to past 100.

Nadeem Ahmed bowled wonderful spell taking 4 wickets conceding 21 runs in 3.3 overs. Nizakat Khan dismissed three Bangladeshi batsmen.   

Both shared seven Bangladesh scalps, bowling the hosts out for just 108 runs in 16.3 overs.

Hong Kong’s opener Irfan Ahmed blasted three sixes and three fours in his 28-ball 34 giving his team good start.

Later the inning, a major contribution was made by  Munir Dar who scored 36 off 27 balls ensuring unranked Hong Kong won the game in the final over.

Shakib Al Hassan bowled terrifc 4-over spell taking 3 wickets for 9 runs only.
