ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed serious concern over arrest and detention of Hurriyat leaders in India-occupied Kashmir.

The Foreign Office spokesperson in a statement on Wednesday said that Hurriyat leaders are being barred from attending ‘Pakistan Day’ reception at the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi.

FO spokesman said these arbitrary restrictions are against the principles of democracy and freedom of movement.

He urged India to release the Kashmiri leaders and representatives from occupied Kashmir so that they are able to attend the Pakistan Day reception.

The Hurriyat leaders includes Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Asiya Andrabi and others.
