Well, it seems like another Bollywood actress has nothing but love for Pakistani movies as of late and wouldn’t mind working in a local movie. Vidya Balan recently spoke to HIP and said:-

“I think there’s a whole new wave of cinema there as well, I would love to do a film in Pakistan. There’s no question about that. I’ll have to perfect my Urdu before of course (Laughs). I’ve been to Karachi years ago as well and I’d love to visit other parts of the country too!”

Like several Indians, Vidya also spoke about how she was fond of Pakistani musicians and Coke Studio. She recalled her visit to Karachi a few years ago when she said:-

“I think Pakistan has the most wonderful musicians, my family (sisters, in-laws, husband) are music lovers and my brother in-law introduced me to Coke Studio a few years ago and I’ve followed it keenly since. Besides I love Abida Parveen and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice. And thanks to the trade of talent, we get to know these fabulous artists, which probably we won’t just by sitting here in India.”

Vidya also spoke on how she went about selecting scripts. The actress referred to her movie Hamari Adhuri Kahaani and said it performed poorly at the box office, but that was the character she wanted to play hence she had given the nod for the movie.
“Well my most recent film, Humari Adhuri Kahaani unfortunately didn’t do as well at the box office, we just recovered the budget. But when I’m offered a script, all I think of is whether I want to tell that story or not, whether I want to live this person’s life for a while, so those are the facts I look into before I take up a project. I am cautious, but I know in the very first two minutes whether I want to do it or not, I think it’s an instinctive decision, so it all adds up.””

It would certainly be interesting to catch Balan in a Pakistani movie. Let’s hope all goes well and the Dirty Picture star gets roped in for a local project!
