ICC confirms Pakistan-India next year series

This will be the first of six series scheduled between the two countries during the eight-year future tours programme cycle from 2015 to 2023.

Chairman of ICC N Srinivasan informed foreign media that there has been a proposal to resume bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan.

“As I understand, there has been an agreement that the two teams will play each other soon.” he added.

The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan was played in December 2012 and January 2013 when Pakistan toured India for three ODIs and two T20s. Bilateral cricketing ties between the two countries were snapped after the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 until the series in 2012-13.

Furthermore, according to the provisional FTP cycle, Pakistan are likely to play 77 Tests till January 2023 and will see an increase in the volume of cricket with arch-rivals India. As the two countries are scheduled to play 12 Tests, 30 ODIs and 11 Twenty20s spread over six series.

Pakistan’s possible tours as per ICC’s eight-year future tours programme cycle from 2015 to 2023 is as follows,

Dec 2015 – 2 Tests, 5 ODI, 2 T20I
Dec 2019 – 2 Tests, 5 ODI, 2 T20I
Jul 2020 – 5 ODIs only
Nov 2022 – 2 Tests, 5 ODI, 2 T20I

v India, away

Nov 2017 – 3 Tests, 5 ODIs, 2 T20I
Nov 2021 – 3 Tests, 5 ODI, 3 T20I

v Others

Australia: 14 Tests, 22 ODIs, 3 T20I
Bangladesh: 4 Tests, 6 ODIs, 2 T20I
England: 16 Tests, 18 ODIs, 9 T20I
New Zealand: 10 Tests, 18 ODIs, 8 T20I
Zimbabwe: 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, 2 T20Is
Sri Lanka: 10 Tests, 18 ODIs, 4 T20I
West Indies: 6 Tests, 8 ODIs, 4 T20I
