IESCO recovers Rs.6019bn during the recovery drive

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) recovers Rs 619 million by disconnecting electric supply of several government institutions including National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), Capital Development Authority (CDA), Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), ARY News reported on Monday.

Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power met on Monday, Senator Zahid Khan chaired the meeting.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO)  briefed that  Rs 619 million were recovered during the recovery drive and power supply was restored to these departments after payment.

The CEO informed the panel that CDA paid only RS.376 million out of total Rs.2.3 billion.

He said that CDA still has defaulter of Rs.1850 million adding that streets lights bill surged to Rs.1700 million.

The officials of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) informed the committee that the government departments have paid Rs.500 million out of total Rs.1 billion outstanding dues under reconcile arrangement and the remaining amount would be paid by June.

Speaking on the occasion, secretary Water and Power Ministry Sailullah Chatta said 200 tower are being deployed in Nelum-Jhelum power plant, whose transmission lines will be completed till September.

The MD Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) said that Prime Minister and Chief Minister are being supplied electricity by two feeders, on which members of Senate Standing Committee remarked that every consumer in the country is getting electricity from single feeder and this should be implemented on Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
