In a statement issued on Saturday, IG Sindh Police A.D. Khowaja made the orders public following which any police official in Karachi would not be able to be a part of any television program, including talk shows and morning shows, without an official authorisation.

ARY News reported, with the new orders in hand police, officials would now seek a prior permission in case they get a request from any television channel to be on their program guest panel.

Only a written authorisation letter from the police department could help them appear on a TV show, said the statement.

The department could either accept or reject a request, based on the weight of the subject.

Sources told ARY News that the decision was taken after the IG Sindh found some of the police officials violating the standard operating procedures of the department.
