IGP Sindh confesses illegal recruitments in police

A five-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali resumed hearing of Karachi law and order case.

IGP Ghulam Haider Jamali in a written plea expressed his distrust over a member of the bench Justice Amir Muslim Hani. The court rejected the plea of the police chief.

An inquiry report submitted to the court said that over 12000 policemen were recruited in year 2013 and 2014.

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain remarked that the learned court had ordered cleaning of the police department from political influence still recruitments made on political and other considerations.

The report disclosed that the rules were ignored for recruitment in police department and recruitment advertisements were published in unknown newspapers ‘Halchal’ and ‘Sarmaya’. Most of the recruits not even submitted their dates of birth. The recruited computer operators could not operate computers.

The report also said that the investigation funds of police department being distributed without caring about the rules and regulations.
